6/4/2020

As new tax measures in the midst of the new coronavirus pandemic, Ordinance No. 139, by the Ministry of Economy, and Ordinance No. 1,932, by the Federal Revenue Service, were published on April 3rd.

The first one establishes that the deadlines for the payment of social security contributions due by companies and domestic employers, as well as the Contribution to PIS / PASEP (PIS) and the Contribution to the Financing of Social Security (COFINS), related to March and April 2020, will be postponed and must be paid on the due date of contributions due in July and September 2020, respectively.

With regard to ancillary tax obligations, Ordinance No. 1,932 provides for an extension of the deadline for submission of the Declaration of Federal Tax Debts and Credits (DCTF) and EFD-Contributions for the months of April, May and June 2020.

With the measure, the presentation of the DCTF may occur until the 15th business day of July 2020, while the delivery of EFD-Contributions was postponed to the 10th business day of July 2020, without the imposition of fines.

Within the scope of the changes related to the accessory tax obligations of individuals, the Federal Revenue Service had already announced the extension of the deadline for submitting the Annual Individual Income Tax Declaration for 60 days, through Normative Instruction 1,930 / 2020.

The announced measures are intended to assist taxpayers in the current economic scenario.
