Federal Government extends deadline for payment of social security contributions, PIS and COFINS

30/6/2020

On June 17, 2020, the Ministry of the Economy issued the Ordinance no. 245/2020 postponing the deadline for the payment of social security contributions by companies and domestic employers, as well as the Contribution to PIS / PASEP (PIS) and the Contribution to the Financing of Social Security (COFINS), related to May 2020.

Due to this extension, the contributions related to the May of this year, which would expire in June, may be paid until October competence, without interest or late payment penalty.

This Ordinance 245/2020 has a wording similar to Ordinances 139 and 150, which postponed the deadlines for payment of contributions related to March and April 2020 to July and September 2020, respectively.

The announced measures are intended to assist taxpayers in the current economic scenario.
